Week 2: Showdown in the Big House

Old favorites win, Gators and Seminoles struggle, cocktails, Heisman, and picks

Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Ohio State roll; new faces help old favorites Miami and Penn State; and we’ve got a dumpster fire at Clemson and Florida

Four Downs:

1st Down: RPO. Was it Brian, or were teams unable to run the ball this week?

2nd Down: John highlights early season blow outs and surprisingly tight games against lesser opponents for top teams.

3rd Down: Best Performance by a Quarterback on a New Team?

4th Down: Bad Week for Replay Officials. A number of questionable rulings. How will this play out during the College Football Playoff?

Extra Point: Bigger win for Miami or worse loss for Florida? We give John the floor to vent about Florida head coach Billy Napier and an underwhelming performance by the Gators this past week against Miami.

John’s Game of the Week: Texas at Michigan

Texas @ Michigan confirmed for Big Noon Saturday on September 7th : r/CFB

Texas (-7) makes the trip to the Big House (12 p.m. on FOX). What can we expect from the Longhorns on the road against a Wolverines team that struggled early last week.

  • How big will home field advantage be?

  • What team has the edge in coaching between Texas’ Steve Sarkisian and Michigan’s Sherrone Moore?

  • What side of the ball dictates the winner of this game?

The “Just For Men” (#notsponsored) Pick ‘em Challenge:

Play along with the guys as they pick winners for this week’s upcoming games. Remember, the loser must dye their beard Ryan Day Black for one podcast at the end of the season.

Current Standings:

Brian (7-7), John (7-7), Gary (6-8)

Heisman Watch:

Week One saw a number of breakout performances, including those by Colorado DB/CB Travis Hunter (7 rec, 132 yards and 3 TDs/3 solo tackles); Boise St. RB Ashton Jeanty (267 yards and 6 TDs); Miami QB Cam Ward (385 yards, 3 TDs); Georgia QB Carson Beck (278 yards, 2 TDs, 91.7 QBR) and Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan (304 yards and 4 TDs).

SWITCHED AT BIRTH: The Modelo Man is either a bad ass version of Mike Tomlin or a bad copy of Deion Sanders.

Before We Go: Does the Modelo Man have an uncanny resemblance to one Colorado head coach, or is it just me?

Gary’s Cocktails of the Week:

GAME DAY: Gary's cocktail recipes for this week's Game of the Week include a whisky or bourbon mixer and a martini.

Longhorn Game Day Cocktail:
