Week 12: Last week featured two upsets of AP Top 10 teams, with both Miami and Georgia losing.
This week features one Top 10 game, Tennessee-Georgia, which is also our Game of the Week.
The College Football Playoff race is wide open, and with three weeks left, it seems like any number of scenarios could play out.
Programming Note: Griffin Olah of
, is scheduled to join us next week. He will be discussing the University of Eastern Colorado Bighorns College Football 25 Dynasty he has created and which he will be documenting through the lens of a sports information director for their first season. The quarterback happens to be named Brian Lennon! The Drive…
1st Down: What does the College Football Playoff picture look like now? Miami and Georgia both lose. Everyone else dominates. Does Alabama have a path to the CFP? Are they eliminated from the SEC Championship game?
2nd Down: No Fuchs Given: Billy Napier gets a vote of confidence from AD Scott Strickland! Meanwhile, Gator basketball coach Todd Golden is under investigation. And FSU’s Mike Norvell coordinates a house cleaning.
3rd Down: Officiating! Utah AD Mark Harlan was fined $40K for comments made following BYU’s defeat of the Utes on Saturday night. Harlan said the game was "absolutely stolen" from Utah and he was "disgusted by the professionalism" of the Big 12 officiating crew. Do you believe the Big 12 gave the officials any direction about keeping BYU undefeated to boost the conferences chances in the CFP?
4th Down: Ben Herbstreit. Kirk’s dog died this past week. He was emotional on the Gameday set, and there was a touching tribute to “man’s best friend.”
Extra Points:
RIP to John Robinson: The former coach for USC and the LA Rams. He was 89. From ESPN: Robinson coached at USC from 1976 through 1982 and again from 1993 through 1997. He never had a losing record at the school, and his Trojans won five conference titles and four Rose Bowls. Running backs Charles White (1979) and Marcus Allen (1981) won the Heisman Trophy while playing in Robinson's relentless rushing offenses.
Farewell to Jack Del Rio: Senior advisor to Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell resigns after a Friday morning crash and OWI arrest.
