Week 11: Battle in the Bayou

Bama and the Tigers battle in the bayou in a game loaded with playoff implications, what to do with James Franklin, and a Livvy Dunne cocktail

Week 11: No. 2 Georgia at No. 16 Ole Miss, No. 11 Alabama at No. 14 LSU. We get two games, each with major CFP bid implications, and we also get the first Florida at No. 5 Texas game since 1940 and, of course, the Holy War (No. 9 BYU at Utah). But first…

The Drive

1st Down: James Franklin. Let’s discuss the state of Penn State football following its eighth straight loss to Ohio State and give Gary and Brian a chance to rant for a few minutes.

2nd Down: College Football Playoff implications for the upcoming week? At 6-2, Alabama-LSU is essentially a play-in game for the playoffs. And can Lane Kiffin upset Georgia and give the Rebels a boost for a playoff berth?

3rd Down: We discuss the Tailgators CFP 12. Interesting notes, potential first round match-ups, and discuss the thinking behind where we ranked the teams.

4th Down: Officers punch Florida fans at last week’s Georgia-Florida game.

No. 11 Alabama at No. 14 LSU (7:30 p.m. ABC)

This is essentially a CFP play-in game. Both teams are 6-2, so a third loss eliminates any chance of either team earning a playoff spot.

Does Jalen Milroe play like Jalen Milroe?

Coaching Matchup: Brian Kelly or Kalen DeBoer? Who you trust?

Alabama:

Jam Miller, RB: 450 yds on 74 carries; 7 TDs; 6.1 avg.

Ryan Williams, WR: 702 yds; 35 rec; 7 Tds, 20.1 avg.

The Just For Men (#notsponsored) College Pick’em Contest:

Does Brian have a pipeline to Vegas? Gary’s wondering after Brian extended his lead this week (Shout out to Louisville!). And remember, the loser has to dye their beard Ryan Day Black.

Last Week: Brian (13-4); Gary (11-6); John (10-7)

Overall: Brian (95-51); Gary (92-54); John (88-58)

The Over/Unders:

Iowa at UCLA (O/U 44-5)

Georgia State at JMU (O/U 54.5)

Gary’s Cocktails of the Week:

Gary was given only one directive this week: The LSU drink better be named after Livvy Dunne. Dunne, of course, is the wildly popular Instagram model, LSU gymnast, and girlfriend of Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, Paul Skenes.

Well, just like Livvy’s uneven bar routine, Gary nailed it!

Big Al:

  • 1/2 oz Orange Vodka

  • 1/2 oz Chambord

  • 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice

Add ice, vodka, chambord and juice in a shaker, shake well and strain into shot glass.

Tiger Livvy:

  • 2 oz Vodka

  • 1 oz Blue Curacao

  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice

Add ice and ingredients to shaker, shake well. Add large ice cube to rocks glass and strain.

Ashton Jeanty, Boise State: A definite invite to New York.

Dillon Gabriel, Oregon: Undefeated, with a golden opportunity for a Big Ten title and top see in the CFP.

Travis Hunter, Colorado: Arguably the best football player in the game. Plays both ways and excels at each.

Cam Ward, Miami: Leading the Hurricanes to an undefeated record, and shot at an ACC crown and top-four spot in the CFP.
