During this Thanksgiving Week, Gary, John and I would like to thank you for listening to us talk about college football. Please do us one more tiny favor and be sure to subscribe, share, and comment on our show.
Hot Topics of the Week: Let’s talk briefly about…
Latest AP Top 6: 1. Georgia; 2. Ohio State; 3. Michigan; 4. Washington; 5. Florida State; 6. Oregon
College Football Playoff Top 6: 1. Georgia; 2. Ohio State; 3. Michigan; 4. Washington; 5. Florida State; 6. Oregon
College Football Playoff Implications: Ohio State or Michigan will have a loss following this week. Does Jordan Travis’ injury have any impact on the Seminoles’ playoff hopes, even with a win?
SEC Championship Game: What impact will next week’s SEC Championship Game have on the College Football Playoff? A loss to Georgia obviously eliminates Bama, but does a Bama win eliminate Georgia? Should an Ohio St. or Michigan loss automatically eliminate them from the Playoff?
Strength of Record: Washington is No. 1 in the ESPN metric. Florida State is No. 4.
The [INSERT SPONSORS NAME HERE] Game of the Week: (see what we could do with a sponsor?)
2 Ohio State at 3 Michigan 12 p.m. on Fox: Ticket price: $465. So much controversy is swirling around this game. We break it all down and pick our winner of The Game!
Coaching: Harbaugh is out. How much pressure is on Ryan Day to win this year?
Offense: Ohio St. has not been great. Does Michigan have the advantage?
Defense: Michigan fired its linebacker coach two weeks ago. No Connor Stalions. Maryland was able to put up some points. Does Ohio State have the advantage?
Special Teams: Kick returners, field goal units, punters, etc. Does one team have an advantage?
This Week’s College Football Playoff Rankings (2023 Record in Parenthesis):
Other games to watch:
11 Oregon State at 6 Oregon 8:30 p.m. Friday on FOX: The Civil war has huge CFP and Pac-12 implications.
Kentucky at 10 Louisville 12 p.m. on ABC: With Jordan Travis’ injury last week, it leaves a wide-open path for the Cardinals to win an ACC title. Do they clinch a playoff spot if they run the table, including the ACC title? This game interests me because it’s a also-ran Kentucky team from the SEC vs. a top ACC team.
8 Alabama at Auburn 3:30 p.m. on CBS: Auburn lost to New Mexico State last week at home? Does Auburn have any hope in the Iron Bowl?
Washington State at 5 Washington 4 p.m. on FOX: The Huskies have been doing just enough to survive the last few weeks. Michael Penix Jr.’s play is getting worse. Is this the week the Cougars upset the Apple cart?
4 Florida State at Florida 7 p.m. on ESPN: John has got to be feeling good about his Gators’ chances against the Seminoles. Can the Gators spoil the Seminoles’ playoff hopes? The Sunshine Showdown? You simply call it Hate Week, right?
1 Georgia at Georgia Tech 7:30 p.m. on ABC: Do any of us expect a football miracle in this game? Where would this rank among NCAA football upsets?
John’s Underdog of the Week:
Texas Tech at 7 Texas 7:30 p.m. ABC: Texas is a 12.5 point favorite but hasn’t been able to put anyone away. Texas Tech has gotten better as the year has gone on. They will keep this one close too and beat the spread with Brooks out at RB and Worthy out at WR for Texas.
The Under: What’s the under for Iowa’s game against Nebraska this week?
16 Iowa at Nebraska 12 p.m. Friday CBS: The line is 26.5! How does the line keep going lower?
Heisman Trophy Watch: Happy trails to Florida State signal caller Jordan Travis. Is Bo Nix the current front-runner? Penix Jr. seems to be struggling. Is there still time for someone to make a last-minute run?
131 teams. Only 1 will survive.
