John’s Trip to Gainesville: He was feeling real good in the first half and then watched it collapse. Now FSU moves on to take on Louisville in the ACC Championship game. Louisville blew their outside chance at the playoffs by losing to Kentucky. Can the Cardinals play spoiler?

What If? Georgia, Florida State, Michigan and Washington all lose? All top 5 teams will be in play this weekend. Which undefeated team can least afford to lose? 5 Oregon at 3 Washington Friday 8 p.m. ABC: The rematch we’ve all been waiting for since the first match-up finished. The stakes are even higher this time, with a chance in the CFP at stake.

This Week’s College Football Playoff Rankings (2023 Record in Parenthesis):

Other games to watch:

5 Oregon at 3 Washington Pac-12 Championship (Friday) 8 p.m. ABC: The rematch we’ve all been waiting for. John: Washington made it through the regular season unscathed. Oregon’s lone loss is to Washington, and they may be the hottest team in the country. We’ve actually been asking for this rematch and it’s here!

19 Oklahoma State at 7 Texas Big XII Championship 12 p.m. ABC: Does Texas still have a real shot at cracking the College Football Playoff? John: Texas still has a chance at the Playoffs but Oklahoma State should relish the chance to spoil Texas’s chances to win in its last Big 12 title game before they leave for the SEC.

1 Georgia at 8 Alabama SEC Championship 4 p.m. CBS: What implication will this game have on the CFP? Can Alabama make its way into the CFP with a victory (even if the other three teams win)? Does Georgia get bounced with a loss, and the other top 4 win? John: It hasn’t always been easy for Alabama this year, but can Nick Saban pull off his greatest coaching feat of all time and upset the Dawgs? Georgia, meanwhile, just keeps rolling. But could an upset up end the entire playoff scenario?

2 Michigan at 18 Iowa B1G Champonship 8 p.m. FOX: Any chance Iowa wins this game and/or the game goes Over? Which is more likely to happen? John: Michigan should rollover the Hawkeyes but the question remains? Can these teams beat the over/under?

15 Louisville at 4 Florida State ACC Championship 8 p.m. ABC: Can the Cardinals rebound and defeat the Seminoles? John: Watching FSU last week against a mediocre Florida team last week wasn’t too convincing. Louisville can throw the ball which Florida couldn’t so they won’t be one dimensional. John: FSU has the playoffs in sight but will the loss of Jordan Travis catch up to them this week? This one may be a defensive tussle.

John’s Underdog of the Week:

15 Louisville at 4 Florida State ABC: John thought about making this his “lock” of the week, but didn’t want to get too carried away!

The Under: What’s the under for Iowa’s game against Michigan in this week’s Big Ten Championship Game?

2 Michigan at 18 Iowa 8 p.m. FOX: The line is 35.5!

Heisman Trophy Watch: One last chance to make an impression on Heisman voters in this week’s conference championship games.

Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix face-off again in what could essentially be a Heisman Trophy showdown. / Source: 750 The Game

Is the Pac-12 Championship game also for the Heisman Trophy? Is it down to Pence Jr. and Nix? John: I think we’re down to three Bo Nix, Michael Penix and Jayden Daniel’s. Two of these guys play each other in the PAC 12 title game. Who ya got?!?!

131 teams. Only 1 will survive.
