Week 2: Every Second Counts

Michigan time travels, traditional powers win big, and Ohio State and Texas are set to collide in a prime time showdown

You can tell it’s fall when the delivery driver is standing outside the Crimellas’ Florida compound with an order of wings from Hooters. You can tell it’s fall when the halushki is simmering on the stove at the Lennon household. You can tell it’s fall when the whisky is being poured out at the McDaniel mansion.

This week, it was back to normal in the college football universe…Penn State won easily; Florida’s offense moved up and down the field with ease and seemed to score at will. Ohio State, Miami, Alabama, Georgia all won big.

ESPN even conjured up Keith Jackson for an LSU night game voice over introduction.

And then before the clock struck midnight on Saturday, or double-zeros, in Michigan’s case, we all witnessed again why college football is the best reality television show ever!

It’s Tailgators on two…Hut! Hut!

The Opening Drive:

Onside Kick: We break down the fiasco in Michigan, which even had ESPN’s headline writers “stunned.”

1st Down: Penn State: It looked like the old Joe Paterno days in Happy Valley on Saturday. A quarterback that could find open receivers; receivers that could get open (and catch!).

2nd Down: Florida: John didn’t throw-up in his mouth. The offense hummed. And Gators fans finally woke up to the fact they dodged a bullet with DJ Lagway leaving Gainesville.

3rd Down: The surprise was maybe that there were no surprises in Week 1.

4th Down: SEC vs. LSU

Extra Point: Brian’s Pet Peeve of the Week:

  • Stadium operators need to stop turning off the lights when the home team scores. It’s kills the mood and it looks totally awful on television when watching at home.
