November is the longest month of the college football season, and this November will be a long one for many teams…Corporate shills pitch for ESPN…the coaching carousel adds a horse…and the man in the funny hat meets…Whooo!…the Nature Boy, Ric Flair. It’s Tailgators on two. Hut! Hut!
The Opening Drive:
1st Down: F-U ESPN: Greedy Disney pulls its ABC and ESPN channels from YouTubeTV’s estimated 10 million subscribers, shutting out millions of college football fans in an attempt to stear them to their freshly minted paid streaming platform. It’s been a PR disaster. We discuss.
2nd Down: The CFP: The first College Football Playoff rankings were unveiled on Tuesday. We react to any surprises and perceived snubs?
3rd Down: The Blight of the ACC: Georgia Tech’s loss throws the conference into a tailspin, with only one team probably making the CFP. We discuss what went wrong.
4th Down: HR Wants 2 C U: Auburn fires Hugh Freeze. Maryland fires Mike Locksley, according to X?
Hugh Freeze is out at Auburn.
Rhule the day at Nebraska? Huskers lose to ranked USC after extension.
Maryland opening?
Franklin to Va Tech finalized?
Extra Point: Lackawanna College’s Mark Duda announced his retirement after 33 years with the program, including 32 as head football coach. Duda’s accomplishments include being the active wins leader in all of the NJCAA with 217 career victories and has helped produce over 450 NCAA Division I athletes, including 25 eventual NFL players. The coach made the decision after a recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
