The Price of Admission
Like the cost of college itself, the cost of attending college football games is becoming prohibitive
Do you remember being a poor college student? Maybe things haven’t changed much and now you’re simply a poor college graduate.
Either way, most Ohio State and Penn State students won’t be able to buy their way into this week’s showdown between the No. 3 ranked Buckeyes and No. 7 ranked Nittany Lions.
Why?
The cheapest ticket price I was able to find? $185.00 on Vivid (See seating chart below. The section is highlighted.). That’s a lot of bone marrow for a college student.
On Monday, Outkick.com was reporting the average ticket price for this week’s Fox Big Noon game was $259.00, with some tickets ranging from $4,000 to $23,000.
That’s probably enough for room and board at one of these fine institutions, let alone a bleacher seat for three and a half hours.
While this is the first “big” Big Ten match-up of the season, both Penn State and Ohio State still need to play Michigan. And if Michigan continues to rollover its pancake schedule, it will be undefeated when it comes to Happy Valley to face Penn State on November 11th.
And if Ohio State and Michigan both beat Penn State, that sets up a potential match-up of unbeatens heading into The Game, with a spot in the college football playoff all but guaranteed.
The only other guarantee? You won’t be able to afford the tickets!
